The Texas Discovery Gardens
Dallas, TX

The Texas Discovery Gardens (former the Dallas Horticulture Center) is located in Fair Park and is the second oldest botanical institution in Texas, dating back to it's founding during the Texas Centennial in 1936 as the "Hall of Horticulture."  The 7.5 acres gardens are free to the public and contain both native and adaptive plants.  Other than the self guided tour and beautiful secenery the Gardens also often offer hands-on educational programs for kids.
The mission statement of the Texas Discovery Gardens is "To teach people effective ways to restore, conserve and preserve nature in the urban environment through the use of native and adapted plants which illustrate the interrelationship of butterflies, bugs and botany," which makes it both a beautiful and educational part of any Fair Park experience.
