Fort Worth Nature Center and Wildlife Refuge

A great place for wildlife lover's to take day hikes.  The refuge is 3,500 acres and safely contains plants and wildlife for visitors to enjoy.  Wildlife highlights include a herd of buffalo, a prairie dog town and a bird sanctuary.  The refuge offers a great deal of educational programs for kids as well as grown-ups which include nature walks and flora and fauna identification classes.  In addition to great hiking, visitors can also canoe down the Trinity River.  Classes and programs for canoeing are offered.  Inside the Hardwicke Interpretive Center there are great exhibits, trail maps, and a bird watching courtyard.    A very fun and educational place and a great place to take the kids!
