Located in McKinney, TX, The Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary is an eclectic collection of natural wonders.  The 287 acre Sanctuary contains several different ecosystems, 240 species of birds, mammals, reptiles and amphibians and nearly 150 species of wildflowers and other plants.
In addition to the Wildlife Sanctuary, The Heard also has a large Texas Native Plant Garden, and Museum.  Many educational programs are offered and the Heard also gives visitors a chance to see wildlife rehabilitation.  A great place to get a better understanding of the environment around you.

Hours: Mon-Sat 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Sun 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
Closed on major holidays
Fees: $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for kids
Hiking: Over three miles of interpreter-led or self-guided nature trails.   Paved nature trail for wheelchairs.  (Trail times are Sundays at 1:30 through 3:30 p.m. Group tours are available by reservation.)
