| Exploring from the Colorado Rockies to the shores of
Hawaii, the caverns of Arkansas to the deserts of Mexico, Dennie has seen
much of the rocky core of North America; and, inspired by our
continent's varied landscapes, he has dedicated himself to helping tell
the unique stories of our relationship with the physical Earth, from the
continent to our vary own backyards.
Of course, like any true outdoorsman, rockhound, and geologist,
Dennie scoffs at danger....(unless its really, really dangerous); he'll
bag a "fourteener" in the Rockies (for a 6-pack of cold beer),
and will spelunk the darkest caverns or face down the most foul of
creatures (okay, who are we kidding?!?!?). Although many of Dennie's
interests revolve around the earth sciences, he also seeks to understand
the way the earth's history and development has affected our society in
past and present, and how it effects us our own backyards.
Dennie's more traditional geologic research has focused on
sedimentology and stratigraphic applications, including the Quaternary
alluvial deposits of Big Bend area of Texas, educational geology, energy
issues and Earth sciences, remote sensing and GIS applications, and
geography. Past topics of study include; carbonate rock studies in the Ft.
Worth area and in the southern Oklahoma aulacogen, flood plain mapping
along the Trinity River, Pleistocene alluvial terrace deposit studies in
north-central Oklahoma, as well as field studies throughout the
Oklahoma/Texas region and the Southwest.
Dennie has also been involved in regional earth science
organizations such as GSA, AAPG, and Sigma Gamma Episilon, has worked with
the North Central Texas Council of Governments, and has taught geology
laboratories at TCU and OU. From these experiences, Devin has earned the
tools to help communicate the intricate relationships between man and rock
in a way with which the common viewer can readily identify.
Easygoing, a little wacky, and lots of fun, Dennie is a fitting face
for the "North Texas Explorer" and "GeoAmerica: Our Roots
in Rock" television series. |
