The 2000 Geological Society of America Annual Meeting and Exposition

 
The 2000 Geological Society of America Annual Meeting & Exposition was held this November 9th through the 18th in Reno Nevada.  Our own Devin Dennie was  a Poster Presenter there.  Dennie's presentation will cover "Gravel clasts and the Depositional History of Quaternary, Deposits Exposed Along Cottonwood Walsh, Rosillos Mountains Brewster County, Texas."   
The "Summit 2000" is a merging of some of the greatest minds in the field of earth science.  More than 150 topical and Pardee sessions are planned.   Field trips will cover much of the Great Basin and parts of the Sierra Nevada, featuring earthquakes, geoarchaeology, hazards, hydrology, neotectonics, ore deposits, paleoclimate, paleontology, plutons, Precambrian rocks, Quaternary climates, stratigraphy, tectonics, and more.

This years goals, as stated by the Geological Society are:
  • Emphasize the multidisciplinary nature of the chemical, physical, and biological subdisciplines of the Earth Sciences;
  • Provide a high visibility forum to communicate both important developments in our traditional disciplines and creative new approaches utilizing promising new technologies;
  • Explore opportunities for Earth Science research and education via the World Wide Web; and
  • Promote the importance of Earth Science and Society, Earth Science Education, and balancing between resource needs and environmental preservation.
